If I had to choose between making lots of money And staying here with you, I’d probably take the money Then I’d buy another house, ask you to come stay with me And if you didn’t like it, we’d buy another down the street Our bedroom would be huge, you’d finally get your office We’d invest all our money and make a ton of profit And the dogs would have their own room, anything they wanted And we’d walk them every day ‘cause we wouldn’t have to go to work Electric car, a new guitar, a fancy fridge, and a mini bar It’s all stainless steel and we’d keep it real In our king sized bed, yeah you know the deal If I had to choose between being realistic And dreaming through the day, I’d say who am I kidding ‘Cause I love our shitty house, it’s got everything I want And I can’t wait to come home every day at 5 o’clock We’ll be fixing walls and painting, scoring, marking We’ll be hugging in the halls while both the dogs are barking We’ll be staying up til two, and waking up with headaches Then we’ll shuffle to the kitchen, make breakfast in the microwave

Little birdie, little birdie, fly down and sing your song. I've a short while to be here and a long time to be gone. Little birdie, little birdie, how do you fly so high? It's because I have a true heart and I do not care to die. Little birdie, little birdie, why are your wings so blue? From a lifetime of grieving, of grieving over you. Little birdie, little birdie, fly down and sing your song. I've a short while to be here and a long time to be gone.

If I relax, it won’t come into clear I’m not a good dog, and I don’t want a beer When I arrive, I know that you’ll know But I won’t try to fight it, or put on a show She’s in the bathroom and I’ve got the blues Standing around in uncomfortable shoes Left alone with nothing to say Talking in circles, no claim to be made (Shut Up) you’ve got words in your mouth If you could please close it, no more would come out (Shut Up) a concise way to say If you could stop talking, that would be great When we show up we’ll succumb to demands The posturing friendships, the shaking of hands We’ll make it work for the rest of the day But when we get home you know we’ll throw it away She’s in the bathroom and I’ve got the blues Standing around in uncomfortable shoes Left alone with nothing to say Talking in circles, no claim to be made (Shut Up) you’ve got words in your mouth If you could please close it, no more would come out (Shut Up) a concise way to say If you could stop talking, that would be great /Please shut up/

Paint Drip 03:10
Looking at the paint drip Right behind the toilet I know that it’s messing with you Crooked bathroom mirror Things are getting clearer Wish that there was something to do When you’re bored This house turns into stone In a similar way To how we made it a home Underscored All the things that you feel They’re so many and none Like they’re not even real Washer-dryer hook up Guess I’ll fill my own cup Let’s avoid a biblical scene We should put it right here Let’s call it a night, dear I don’t even know what you mean Won’t get bored Got my own little dome Guess I’ll crawl up inside And make myself right at home Underscored, All the things that could be They’re so many and none Simultaneously I never had that thought before I wonder why she doesn’t mind, I said Forget it all, electrify Key to the kite We’re gonna fry my life and times When you’re bored This house turns into stone In a similar way To how we made it a home Underscored All the things that you feel They’re so many and none And all of them are real /Looking at the paint drip/

When you lie and decide To emerge for the day There’s a look in your eyes That way When you finally arrive There’s some veil of success Like a 9-hour drive Busted Webster Dictionary coming out of your head You’re so smart and scary, bet you didn’t know that I’ve been waiting for ya Hard to explain it for ya I’ve been slowly reeling We’ll find a deeper feeling When your light isn’t there Like it left on a breeze There’ll be no one to care Feed me When the harmony stops Hits me straight in the heart I guess I’ll have to do My part Webster Dictionary coming out of your head You’re so smart and scary, bet you didn’t know that I’ve been waiting for ya Hard to explain it for ya I’ve been slowly reeling We’ll find a deeper feeling

I’m sitting in the living room The numbers filter past on my screen The world is blowing up on the news But I don’t even take it seriously I guess I’ll sit and watch the TV Waiting for the world to collapse It’ll really be exhausting for me And I’ll probably end up taking a nap Doctor told me To turn my head and cough What was the point? Feels just like the death of the moth People outside starting to scream The sky’s getting increasingly gray It puts into perspective for me All the stupid things we did everyday We waited at the DMV We killed our brains by living online We worked for forty hours a week And most of us just barely survived Culture warned me To play my insecurities off What was the point? Feels just like the death of the moth // All the things you did were just a waste of your time Working through the pain for all the years of your life Could have spent your energy walking your dog, or helping your mom, or writing a song // Sha-la-la, the death of the moth

Ashton 03:54
Ashton, Ashton Six feet tall, and making calls Ashton, Ashton Don’t think you’ll impress them all You had dreams of being a star Wanted to spend your life on stage Dudes like you don’t get very far You had to suit up and act your age Ashton, Ashton Struck down by economy Ashton, Ashton Jaded by the industry You tried hard, you gave it a shot Despite your best, couldn’t break the mold Sometimes you’ll end up a have-not And punch the clock till you get old So when it hurts, just buy more shirts And let it go Take comfort in the fact That you’ve got money to blow Ashton, Ashton Life is strange, and people change Ashton, Ashton But there’s no shame in staying the same You’ve let people from out of the blue Change your face, the clothes you wear Sometimes you’ve just gotta do you Make your space, forget who cares /Who cares/

about

Albums should rock, man. Every song should hit hard — emotionally, physically, sonically. No slow songs. No ballads. Take out those filler tracks. No more beautiful music. We can be sad in a major key. We can laugh at the pain of humanity through some power chords and a heavy drumbeat. We can embrace the droll of everyday life by hitting it over the head with a guitar solo. It’s possible. We do it all the time. Who cares? Have fun. Catch the apathy.
