Kyle Rogers I’ve been listening to this album for a few years now, and keep coming back to it, it’s very good. Ben is a talented songwriter, and the band is absolutely killer. Each song is so interesting and distinct yet cohesive, and the chill and positive vibe never fails to lift me up. As a mandolin player I gotta give Jesse props for his masterful playing, and Ben’s mix is spot on. Highly recommended listening

Fur Coat 04:06
Fur coat clad, classist state of mind Worry about your dad in your spare time Get going early when the sun comes up Work in the garden and walk your dog /Oh no/ Send her Wake up to sounds of the alarm Skip breakfast, won't do any harm You turn the dial in your four-wheel drive, You're always thinking that you're out of time /You're not/ Send her The sun is shining, but it's Hot as hell in here, please help me out You're always crabbing, 'cause you Know I've got something to cry about Get in line behind me, Empty all the vents, we'll dump them out And then we'll figure out what's Hiding underneath the covers Drive off, ignoring all the lines News comes from carefully placed yard signs And all the moms are wearing purple shorts And birds are dying underneath the porch /You know/ Send her

Nighttime, breathing All the bugs are screaming Listening, outside Take a deep breath, close your eyes Bedtime, kissing All the sheets are missing Listening, outside Take a deep breath, close your eyes Proud of my cyclical thinking like-- Listen to feet on the sidewalk like-- Humming the words on the calendar— Nighttime, light ends All the bugs they are my friends Listening, outside Made this walk so many times Made this walk so many times ///////////////////////////////////////////////// You went off into the day You took your car around the back Because I asked you to stay You let me sit on your bed You told me how to get the silly pictures Out of my head You understand where I’ve been I know just where you’ve gone But I don’t understand where it is I’ll never know it for sure There are so many of you But I’ve seen you before
3.
Get Upset 03:35
I wanna be In your way, in your way, in your— I wanna have You to blame, you to blame, you to— I wanna know What you did, what you did, what you— I wanna get Get upset, get upset, get upset When you told me What you meant by all that I kept thinking What you could’ve meant by I wanna stand In you light, in your light, in your— I wanna waste All your time, all your time, all your— I wanna get What I get, what I get, what I— I wanna get Get upset, get upset, get up—

Near Me, I 01:49
I am so alive When you’re near me, I Crossing over water I’m scared of heights If I made you drive Then you wouldn’t mind Making use of time Like we’re gonna die
5.
Makes Sense 03:28
Take a walk with Mailman’s daughter Fruits and veggies Make for quite a time Lifetime Sentence Never meant it Accidental Guess we’re doing fine //Object permanence// //Makes sense// Sleepy sweetie You sweat for me I swear for you I sweat for your time When I’m dreaming You’re my sweet, and— Can’t believe it, Guess we’re doing fine [Take a walk with mailman’s daughter] [After, underneath, and in an elevator]
6.
In Between 03:50
Learning to eat dirt And understand Having the proverbial Good time Hanging on to me A Bummer to be Flossing in between Your teeth
7.
RE: Squash 04:09
I read the words on the screen Tried to figure out what they mean Came up empty every time Lost after the subject line I tried to read it again Went right on over my head Kept not having any luck That subject line’s got me stuck
8.
Well I sold my soul To some company store And I left out the back With the cash I undid my hair Left it hanging there Then I used my sense To get back And i don't even know who I sold it to And I don't even know if I care You know I never intended to follow you But I'll follow you anywhere Stopped my fussing fit If only for a bit Then you did the trick Calmed me down And your voice rang clear In my inner ear The way you spoke so soft Through the phone And I don't even know about the dial tone And I don't even know if I care You know I never intended to lean on you But I lean on you everywhere
